CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY ON FRIDAY 5TH DECEMBER 2014
|Year 6||–||Whole Class|
PARENT ATTITUDE QUESTIONNAIRE RESPONSE
‘Improve the safety for children with parents parking opposite the yellow lines – it’s very dangerous’
‘Traffic congestion and parking is a big issue’
‘Additional walking bus from Cedar/Shawbrook/Chestnut area – lots of parents and children live round there and walk to school’
It is clear that there is an issue with congestion outside school and with parents parking opposite the yellow zig zag lines. The weekly newsletter regularly asks for parents to be considerate when parking and we have also recruited the local PCSO’s who try to ensure that parents park considerately outside school. I urge all parents not to park directly outside school and be aware of local residents’ needs regarding access to their properties.
The walking bus has been in operation for many years now and helps to reduce the traffic build up in a morning. I urge as many parents as possible to consider using this facility as numbers have dropped over recent months. We will review our green travel plan again this year and will consider additional walking buses, if possible, however it may be difficult to staff additional routes.
I have raised the concerns regarding the traffic outside school, particularly at the end of the day, with the governors and the school council. As a result, we have decided to enter the Chairman’s Challenge this year – this project is designed to reward schools who make a huge difference in their school or local area. We have decided to make our pledge in relation to improving the traffic situation outside school and ultimately improving the safety of our pupils. The school council have some wonderful ideas and will engage all stakeholders in this project based on trying to make our school a safer place for everyone. The school council will write to you in the New Year with their ideas and we hope that you will be able to support the project wholeheartedly – Together we will make a difference!

SCHOOL PICK UP FROM SCHOOL
Please can all parents inform the class teacher or the school office before 3.00 p.m. if someone other than yourself or other nominated carer is coming to pick up your child.
Please can we ask parents to check that the jumpers, cardigans, coats, hats, gloves and shoes that their child brings home from school belongs to them and not someone else. All items of clothing should be clearly labelled with the child’s name on it so that the correct owner can be identified. Fraser in Year 2 and Olivia in Year 5 have both mislaid jumpers/cardigans since the beginning of term both which are clearly labelled. Please check before the end of term!
