PARENT ATTITUDE QUESTIONNAIRES

Following on from last week here are more overall responses from this year’s Lancashire PAQ. Your feedback is always important to us.

A very large majority (96%) of parents/guardians say their child enjoys school.

A very large majority (96%) of parents/guardians say the school takes account of their questions, suggestions or concerns.

A very large majority (96%) of parents/guardians say that the school works in close partnership with parents.

A very large majority (90%) of parents/guardians say they are kept well informed about their child’s progress.

A very large majority (90%) of parents/guardians agree that the school provides a range of “extra” activities outside lesson time.

REPORT CARDS

Report Cards for this term will be sent out next week as detailed in the attached letter. 100% attendance certificates for the Spring Term will be awarded on Thursday 26th March in assembly.

 

WELL SUNG, CHOIR!

Congratulations to our choir who took part in the Sing Together 2015 concert last Wednesday at King George’s Hall, Blackburn. Their total dedication and commitment over the past few months resulted in a fantastic performance. Well Done!

Choir rehearsals have now finished for the year, please can all choir T-shirts be returned to school as soon as possible.

 

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR – WEDNESDAY 18TH – TUESDAY 24TH MARCH

We are welcoming the Scholastic Book Club for our annual Book Fair on Wednesday 18th March for a week. The Book Fair will take place after school in the Den until 3.45 p.m. each evening where you will have the opportunity to browse and buy books. A magazine from which books can be ordered will be brought home with your child on Wednesday 18th March for parents who are unable to attend the Book Fair at school. We look forward to seeing many of you at the fair!

 

READING CHALLENGE

The reading target of 30 reads for this term will be counted on Monday 23rd March ready for distributing an award on Thursday 26th March in assembly. So get any last minute reading completed!

 

EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA LUNCH – WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH

We are having a special Easter Eggstravaganza Lunch on Wednesday 25th March, which will be open to all children. More details can be found on the attached sheet. All replies need to be returned to school with payment by this Friday morning (20th March) in order that the orders can be placed with suppliers. Unfortunately no late order can be accepted.

 

SCHOOL DINNERS

School dinners cost £2.30 per day or £11.50 per week. If you wish to pay for the next half term (Monday 13 April – Friday 22 May), the amount is £66.70 per child, 29 lunches in total. Cheques should be made payable to LCC.

If your child wishes to change from packed lunches to school dinners, or vice-versa, after the Easter holidays please inform Mrs Vost in writing by the morning of Wednesday 25th March.

 

HOTHERSALL LODGE – FRIDAY 20 MARCH TO SUNDAY 22 MARCH

Just a reminder that all pupils going to Hothersall Lodge on Friday must bring any medication in a sealed bag and hand it straight to Mr Caunce or Miss Heartfield.

All suitcases need to be taken to the Year 5 classroom. Pupils who would normally have a school dinner or Friday Favourite dinner need to pick up a packed lunch from Pat before they leave.

Finally we hope everyone has a fantastic time and parents please don’t forget to pick your children up from Hothersall Lodge on Sunday!!!

 

EASTER BONNET PARADE DAY – FRIDAY 27TH MARCH

Children are invited to make an Easter Bonnet for Friday 27th March. Every child that enters will be asked to parade around the hall with their classmates to allow staff to choose a winner from each class. Every entrant will receive a small egg and the winning girl and boy from each class will receive a large egg. We look forward to seeing your creations!

 

Y6 BOREATTON PARK

The final payment of £40 is due by Friday 27th March for the Year 6 children who are going to Boreatton Park Lodge in June. Please make cheques payable to LCC.

 

BOOK CHARACTER EGG DECORATING CHALLENGE – FRIDAY 27TH MARCH

Children are invited to decorate a hard-boiled egg to look like a book character. The eggs will be put on display in the hall and the winner from each class will receive a prize. We are egg-cited about seeing your decorative skills!

 

EASTER GAMES NIGHT – THURSDAY 26TH MARCH

Everyone is welcome to join our Family Fun Easter Games Night on Thursday 26th March at 6.30 p.m. There will be quizzes, spin the wheel, bingo, chocolate tombola, treasure hunt, champagne roll and lots more besides! Tickets can be purchased from the school office in advance, to be entered into a raffle, or on the night: adults £1.00 and children under 12 are free. You can bring your own refreshments.

 

TOAST

Toast costs 20p per day. If you wish your child to have toast in the Summer Term (Monday 13 April – Thursday 23 July) the total cost will be £12.60. Please complete the slip below and return it with payment before Friday 20th March. Thanks

 

FRIDAY FAVOURITE HOT DINNER – SUMMER TERM 1

After the Easter holiday we would like to offer your child the opportunity to enjoy one of the following hot dinners:

Pizza and Chips
Fish, Chips and Peas/Beans or
Jacket Potato with a choice of toppings including beans, cheese or tuna

all accompanied by salad and bread. There will be an assortment of desserts to follow. The cost will be £13.80 until May half term. If you would like your child to enjoy a Friday Favourite Hot Dinner then please complete the reply slip below and hand it to the school office.by Friday 20th March. Those children who already receive a hot dinner in school will automatically be included.

 

KS2 DANCE AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

A KS2 Dance after school club will commence on Monday 13th April until Monday 18th May (5 weeks, none on Monday 4th May) from 3.00 – 4.00 p.m. for pupils in Year 3 – 6. There are a limited number of places available. If there is high interest then names will be drawn out of a hat and everyone in the club will be notified by letter. Please complete the permission slip below if your child is interested and return it to Mrs Vost or Mrs Hacking by Friday 20th March.

 

YEAR 3 PLEA

Year 3 are collecting small boxes, egg boxes and kitchen roll tubes for their technology lesson. If you have any of these items at home please can you bring them to the Year 3 classroom or the school office by Friday 20th March. Many thanks!

 

HI FIVES

There will be no more Hi Fives for the rest of this year following the last league game taking place tomorrow night, Thursday 19th March, from 4 – 4.30 p.m.

 

EASTER EGG COLOURING COMPETITION

This colouring competition is open to any child in school who currently has a school dinner. Please colour in the egg, attached to this newsletter or obtained from the school office, complete your child’s details and hand it to your child’s teacher or Mrs Vost by Monday 23rd March. A prize for Infants and Juniors will be distributed to the winner in on Thursday 26th March in assembly.

 

CROSS COUNTRY RUN – SATURDAY 21ST MARCH

Good Luck to all the pupils taking part in this event held at Astley Park on Saturday 21st March from 10.30 a.m. onwards.

 

NAIL VARNISH

It has been noticed that some pupils are wearing nail varnish in school. May I remind parents / carers that nail varnish is not permitted in school at any time. Your child will be asked to have the nail varnish removed by Mrs Vost if found wearing any.

 

CENTRAL VENUE FOOTBALL LEAGUE

The football match that was due to take place after school on Wednesday 25th March has now been cancelled.

 

EXTRA – CURRICULAR ACHIEVEMENTS

WALKING BUS

A member of staff will arrive at Spar at approximately 8.25 a.m. and leave promptly at 8.30 a.m. for school, with no stopping en route to pick up additional children. Please see Mr Caunce for more information.
