CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY ON FRIDAY 24TH OCTOBER 2014

The Halloween disco was a huge success with some fantastic costumes. The PTFA managed to raise over £300 for school funds. Congratulation to the winners of the best costume who were:

LADIES NIGHT – FRIDAY 7TH NOVEMBER
Our very popular Ladies Night is taking place on Friday 7th November at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale from the school office! Entry is £3 and includes a glass of fizz, raffle ticket and truffle on arrival. Tickets purchased in advance will be entered into a prize draw. You can bring your own refreshments.
CHRISTMAS FAIR – FRIDAY 28TH NOVEMBER
Our Christmas Fair is fast approaching and Santa is on his way! As you know he is very busy at this time of year so if you would like to meet him please complete the attached form and return it to school, along with £3 per child, as soon as possible. Each child will receive a ticket which includes the visit and a gift. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. (Cash should be in an envelope clearly labelled with your child’s name and class)
NON-UNIFORM DAY – THURSDAY 13TH NOVEMBER
Pupils can wear non-uniform in return for bringing in a mystery parcel and wrapping paper. Pupils to bring a gift appropriate for same age and sex as themselves. Please do not wrap the present!
I am pleased to announce that Miss Kathleen McKinley has been appointed as Year 6 teacher to cover Mrs Chapman’s maternity leave with effect from Monday 5th January. Miss McKinley joins us from a two form entry junior school in Luton where she has been head of Year 6 for the last two years.
Mrs Katie Grinsted has joined Mrs Vost in the school office and will work on a Monday morning and all day Wednesday as an office assistant. I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Mrs Grinsted to Euxton Primrose Hill.
TUBS 4 TABLETS – TESCO
We are currently collecting tokens from special tubs of Flora and Stork sold in Tesco’s. For every 50 tokens we collect we will receive one touch screen tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0”, for use by our pupils. Please bring tokens to the school office. Thanks for your support!
CHRISTMAS BAUBLE DESIGN COMPETITION – DEADLINE FRIDAY 7TH NOVEMBER
The Crafty Potter and Booths are launching an annual Christmas bauble design competition across local schools. Each child who wishes to enter the competition needs to design a bauble on the attached template using any materials they want. All entries need to be returned to school by Friday 7th November. The completed designs will be judged and the winners for each age group across the schools awarded a prize in addition to an overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize awarded in each school. The winners will be invited to recreate their design, or a design of their choice, at the Crafty Potter using ceramic baubles. The baubles, once fired and glazed, will hang on the Christmas tree in the Booths Supermarket in Chorley for the Christmas celebrations.
POPPY APPEAL – REMEMBRANCE
We are once again helping to support the Royal British Legion by distributing poppies to all pupils who can bring a donation into school. Donations can be of any amount you wish to offer, but we will ask pupils for a minimum of 20p for each poppy sold. Poppies will be on sale at break time from Thursday 6th November.
WHOLE SCHOOL PANTOMIME VISIT
Each child should have received a letter today inviting them to watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at the Preston Charter Theatre, Guild Hall on Wednesday 10th December. The cost of the trip is £10. Completion of the slip and payment should be handed to the school office by Friday 21st November. Cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council. Children seem to enjoy the social life the Walking Bus offers each morning.
A member of staff will arrive at the Spar at approximately 8.25am and leave promptly at 8.30am for school, with no stopping en-route to pick up additional children. Please see Mr Caunce for more information.
