Yesterday year five had a wonderful day at Astley Hall as part of our history topic on The Tudors. We have been learning all about the Tudors and it was great to see how some locals lived. We spent the morning exploring the house and learning all about the different items there, then we had a go at some dancing. In the afternoon we created our own Tudor feast menu and used quills to write them. We thought long and hard about the foods they would have eaten and we added some entertainment too. For the final part of the day we thought about how the Tudors kept themselves smelling as nice as possible, which was pretty tricky in their time! We made some lovely smelling scent bags that they would have hung from their clothes. We used lots of nice herbs such as Rosemary, lavender and rose petals. We had a super day and learned lots of interesting things about a local Tudor home.
