On entry to Primrose Hill, pupils are organised into two groups by equally splitting pupils by date of birth and gender in order to create two roughly equal classes. At the end of EYFS, these classes are reviewed and may be altered taking account of any social, emotional or welfare needs. It is intended that pupils will remain in these classes for the remainder of their time at Primrose Hill.
In years 1 – 6, pupils are organised into mixed ability classes, each with their own class teacher. Children are sorted into ability groupings for certain subjects and sessions within theses classes. Each class will have a different teacher for approximately two lessons a week as we have specialist teachers who deliver mandatory PPA cover for class teachers. There may also be occasions when a supply teacher is brought in to cover for staff sickness or staff training courses.
