Pupil Leadership
Giving children a voice, responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference
At Euxton Primrose Hill, we believe that children should have real opportunities to lead, contribute and make a difference to our school community.
Throughout their time at Primrose Hill, pupils can take on a range of leadership roles. Some roles are voted for by their peers, while others involve an application or selection process.
These opportunities help children to develop confidence, independence, teamwork, communication and leadership skills, while encouraging them to become positive role models for others.
Our pupil leaders work alongside children and staff, support school initiatives, contribute ideas and represent our school.
Pupil leadership is a wonderful way for children to put our CARE values into action.
🗳️ School Council
Our School Council gives pupils a genuine opportunity to have their voices heard and contribute to school life.
At the beginning of each academic year, children in Years 1–6 select two representatives from their class to join the School Council.
For many children, this is their first experience of democracy in action, with representatives being chosen by their classmates.
Our School Council meets regularly to discuss ideas and consider how we can make our school even better. Pupils have also been involved in fundraising and community activities and have taken part in wider opportunities such as Parliament Week.
Our School Council representatives have also had opportunities to visit the Houses of Parliament and meet our local MP.
🌱 Eco Warriors
Our Eco Warriors help us to develop a school community that understands the importance of caring for our environment.
Children from Years 1–6 have opportunities to become involved throughout the year, giving more pupils the chance to develop their leadership skills and contribute to our Eco-Schools work.
Our Eco Warriors share ideas, lead activities and help the school to think about ways we can reduce waste, protect wildlife, care for our grounds and make positive choices for our environment.
🏅 Sports Ambassadors
Our Sports Ambassadors help to raise the profile of sport and physical activity across school.
Chosen in Years 5 and 6, our ambassadors encourage other pupils to get involved in sport and help to organise activities and competitions.
They have also developed their communication skills through sports media opportunities, creating sports news and sharing sporting achievements with other pupils.
Our Sports Ambassadors are positive role models who help to promote teamwork, participation and an enjoyment of being active.
⚽ Playtime Activity Leaders
Our Playtime Activity Leaders (PALS)are children in Years 4 and 5 who apply for the opportunity to take on this role.
Selected pupils receive training through the Chorley School Sport Partnership and then take responsibility for organising and leading activities during lunchtime.
PALS encourage younger children to be physically active and support them to develop communication, teamwork and social skills through a range of games and activities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop confidence and leadership skills while making a positive difference to the lunchtime experience of younger children.
📚 Year 6 Librarians
Each year, Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to apply to become Library Leaders.
Our librarians work alongside our School Librarian to help keep the library organised and welcoming.
They also support younger children at lunchtime to choose books to take home and encourage other pupils to discover the enjoyment of reading.
And, of course, our librarians are often found enjoying a good book themselves!
👧🧒 Year 6 Buddies
Every child in Year 6 is paired with a child in EYFS as a Buddy.
This is a special opportunity for our oldest pupils to develop responsibility, empathy and nurturing skills while supporting our youngest children as they settle into school.
For our EYFS children, having a familiar older pupil to talk to and spend time with helps them to feel safe, confident and part of our wider school community.
Our Year 6 Buddies are positive role models who demonstrate our CARE values to our youngest pupils.

Our pupil leadership opportunities give children the chance to develop skills that will support them both in and beyond primary school.
Through leadership, children learn to:
